2020 ONLINE SUMMER MEDIA COURSES FOR TEENS

JULY 27–AUGUST 14, 2020

This summer we are offering media-making classes for youth ages 15–18, led by professional filmmakers and game designers. Classes meet in the afternoon for week-long programs featuring 90-minute sessions (Monday through Friday) and are led by professional filmmakers and digital game designers. Sessions can be taken independently or in any combination. Complete this form to sign up. Youth living anywhere around the world are welcome to join!

Video Game to Video Art

July 27–31, Monday–Friday, 2:00–3:30 p.m.
Learn to design experimental and fantastical video games through exploring the wild aesthetics of this unique art form. Dive into cinematic and visual storytelling with the art of video games and video art, led by a professional game developer.

Cinematic Arts Appreciation

July 27–31, Monday–Friday, 4:00–5:30 p.m.
Learn to see the world through the eyes of a cinematographer in this film appreciation course for teens. Build your understanding of film language through an exploration of the diverse mechanics of cinema. Learn the tricks of visual storytelling to deliver non-verbal communication and artistic expression, with MoMI's Filmmaker in Residence.

Documentary Filmmaking

August 3-7, Monday–Friday, 2:00–3:30 p.m.
In this crash course, you’ll try out different documentary styles, guided by an international filmmaker who will share pro tips from preproduction all the way through the editing process. Explore new and classic techniques for camera shots, interviews, editing, and montage.

Mockumentary Making

August 10-14, Monday–Friday, 2:00–3:30 p.m.
After you’ve explored the art of documentary, take a deep dive into the witty and hilarious media genre known as the Mockumentary. Learn how to entertain viewers and possibly even teach them something through visual satire.

SIGNING UP

You will receive an email confirmation of the selected courses. Please submit a separate registration form for each participant. Placement in the camp is guaranteed once full payment is received. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. A $45 registration fee is applied to any non-members of Museum of the Moving Image. Information on becoming a member can be found on our website.

WAITING LISTS, REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

If a session is filled, you will be placed on a waiting list and contacted if space becomes available. To receive a refund, cancellations must be made at least three weeks prior to the start of the program. If the Museum of the Moving Image cancels a program for any reason, all enrollment fees will be refunded.
