It All Started at the End (Todo comenzó por el fin)

Saturday, March 25, 2017, 6:30 p.m.
Bartos Screening Room

With director Luis Ospina in person

Dir. Luis Ospina. Colombia, 2015. 208 mins. Digital Projection. In Spanish with English subtitles. A self-portrait of the artist as radical and convalescent, It All Started at the End tracks the twinned lives of filmmaker Luis Ospina. A collective of Colombian artists who pursued revolutionary art, cinema and literature in the 1970s and 80s, the Cali Group were idealists and wild partiers during a tumultuous time in their country's history. The group's only surviving member, Ospina is diagnosed with cancer during the making of the film, and so he also provides a courageously frank, often darkly comic record of his battles with disease. This singular story of survival is filled with both rare archival material and candid first-person footage. Screening as part of Colombian Film Festival New York 2017.
