In Memoriam: Eliseo Subiela (1944–2016)

Dir. Eliseo Subiela. Argentina, 1986, 108 mins. Digital projection. With Lorenzo Quinteros, Hugo Soto, Inés Vernengo. A Buenos Aires mental hospital is thrown into an uproar when a mysterious male patient appears out of nowhere. As the psychiatrists grill the stranger, he sticks to a story that suggests his origins are far from earthly. The film’s blend of science fiction and magical realism helped make the film a cult classic, drawing international acclaim for director Eliseo Subiela.
